Keratoconus Surgery Treatment

Keratoconus is a disorder of the cornea, where the cornea thins and bulges outward like a cone, resulting in distorted vision. Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease where the normally round cornea thins and bulges into a cone-like shape. Aastha Eye Centre, offers comprehensive treatment for Keratoconus through the following alternative procedures:

C3R (Corneal Collagen Crosslinking with Riboflavin) or CXL

This is a non-invasive procedure to strengthen corneal tissue and limit the bulging of the eye’s surface. With CXL, the outer portion of the cornea (epithelium) is removed to allow application of riboflavin (vitamin B2) that is activated with UV light. Another technique of strengthening the cornea performed at our Centre is ‘transepithelial corneal cross-linking’. In this technique, the corneal surface is left intact.
